one-half credit shall then be added to the elective credits, making a total
of six elective credits.
Students shall complete advanced level work in the core curriculum
consistent with any guidelines established by the State Department of
Education and local boards. Credit earned through applied academic
courses or embedded credit situations will not satisfy the core curriculum
requirements for a diploma with the advanced academic endorsement, except as
determined applicable by local school officials and as is consistent with
State Department guidelines regarding applied academic courses (Refer to
Changing Diploma Options AAC Rule 290-3-1-02 (9) (d).

Students pursuing either diploma, Standard or Advanced, will be required to
master all required subject test of the Alabama High School Graduation
Examination before becoming eligible for a high school diploma.
Students will be given the opportunity to take the test at the times
established by the State Board of Education as needed.
Effective for students with disabilities as defined by the Individuals with Disabilities
Education Act (Public Law 10-476) must earn the course credits outlined in
Ala. Admin. Code r.290-3-1-03 (11) (k) 1 .and successfully complete an
approved occupational portfolio in order to be awarded
the Alabama Occupational Diploma.
